UK universities, employers and professional bodies often ask for an English translation of your degree certificate and transcript. UK ENIC, the national agency that compares overseas qualifications with UK ones, asks for certified translations of documents that are not in English. Check exactly what each organisation needs before you order.

Which documents

  • the degree certificate (daneshnameh), or a provisional certificate if the final one has not been issued yet
  • the transcript (riz-e nomarat), listing every course with its credits and its grade
  • school documents such as your diploma, if they are asked for

Grades, courses and stamps

Iranian grades are usually given out of 20. I translate them exactly as written, with the grade point average, and I do not convert them into UK degree classes: comparing them is the job of the university or UK ENIC. Course titles are translated consistently, and the university’s official English name is used where it has one. Every stamp is translated too, including any from the Ministry of Science or the Ministry of Health, as these show where the document was verified.

Dates and names

Graduation and issue dates are converted from the Solar Hijri calendar, and your name follows the spelling in your passport, so the translation matches your application.
