A certified translation of a short personal document, such as a birth certificate, an ID card or a driving licence, is priced per document rather than per word, so you know the full price before anything starts. Longer documents are priced by the page. Long texts such as letters or reports may be priced by the number of words instead, and your quote will say how it was worked out.

What the price includes

  • a complete translation of every page with text, including stamps, signatures and handwritten notes
  • my signed and dated statement that the translation is accurate, with my contact details and CIOL membership number
  • names, dates and numbers checked against the original, with Solar Hijri dates converted where needed
  • a PDF by email, ready to upload or forward

What changes the price

  • Length: each extra page with text adds from £20.
  • Layout: tables, such as transcripts and bank statements, take longer than plain text.
  • Urgency: same-day or next-working-day work, when it can be fitted in, adds 25%.
  • Printed copies by post within the UK: £5.
  • Notarisation or an apostille: the official fees are passed on at cost and quoted in advance.

Worked examples

  • A one-page document, such as a driving licence or an ID card: £30.
  • A marriage certificate with three pages of entries: £30 for the first page and £20 for each of the other two, £70 in total.
  • The same marriage certificate needed the next working day: £70 plus 25%, which is £87.50.
  • For an asylum seeker or a registered charity, 20% comes off, so £70 becomes £56.

Getting an exact price

Send a clear photo of every page by WhatsApp or email, and say what the translation is for and when you need it. You will receive a fixed price and a delivery date before any work starts, with no obligation.

Common questions

Is the price the same for Kurdish, Farsi and Dari?

Yes. The same prices apply to all the languages I work in.

How do I get the 20% discount?

Mention it when you ask for a quote. If you are seeking asylum, it applies to services you pay for yourself, and you may be asked to show your ARC card or a Home Office letter. Registered charities just give their charity number. See the discount details.

What do notarisation and an apostille add?

The notary’s fee and the official fees are passed on at cost and included in your quote before you agree. For a paper apostille, the FCDO currently charges £45 per document plus postage, and an e-Apostille costs £35. More in Certified, notarised or apostilled?

Is the quote free?

Yes. Quotes are free and there is no obligation: you get a fixed price and a delivery date before any work starts.
